Moth - Ugly Butterflies

Think Sync Records release an innovating compilation album.  Hearing the intro of ‘Moth’ which I can only be described as EPIC on the ‘Richter’ scale, out comes some beautiful tracks with a characteristic edge which takes you on an interesting journey which could be described as a concept album. The album has some classic ‘Synth DJs’ tracks and Techno-fear, Sharplicks are back! offering 80’s retro.

 The Saviours of Electronica
The Synth DJs AKA Sharplicks

Want can I say except if you like electro, this album is outstanding, wiping the floor with current house based Electronica. It ooze's with style and humour and lifts you up into utopia. My favourite tracks must be the 2 extra-extended dance mixes, The Saviours of Electronica, which is just dirty, and Beat Bop Boy, a style that Robbie attempted and The Synth DJs have stunning success.

Human Design (Review)

The Synth DJs AKA Sharplicks are an electronic outfit who have enjoyed underground success in the US and across Europe and it’s about time they won praise in the UK if this ebullient album is anything to go by. Simply put, they write great pop tunes which gleam like 1980s chrome, are as catchy as Velcro and they’re not afraid to throw in the odd curve ball to keep things interesting, too. And they’ve roped in Emile for a couple of tracks who provides the requisite vocal oomph.

Bravo. DP

(Album The Month)

This fantastic release shot through with the kind of dynamic vibe that shakes your bones. Its been dripped in the spirit of electro pioneers such as The Human League and New Order and the artists featured here also have those bands’ ear for a tune. And tunes are very much order of the day. There’s no mindless electronic assault, just simply some of the most soulful, uplifting and thrilling stuff I’ve heard in a long while.

It’s all been put together by a local label and as you’d expect, there’s a decent sprinkling of tracks from local artists including Sharplicks – weighing in with three funky groovers – and Techno Fear whose “Tracy” calls to mind Saint Etienne at their most joyous. It’s all real feel good music, which can be enjoyed, on the dance floor, in the car or indeed at 8.30am in the morning when your workplace suddenly becomes transformed into an emporium of hedonistic delights.
